Always willing to post the advice and recommendations of fellow DFA's, Mick proudly presents the Halloween adventures of his amigo John. John landed in Dublin by way of Boston, Miami, and Spain, and is perhaps a more trusting and daring fellow than your cowardly webmaster...
Halloween was great! Very impressive. As this was our first one in Ireland, it was a lot of fun.
Some neighborhood kids I met on the way to the store invited my wife and I to their bonfire in the nearby wooded area. (This was very considerate of them considering I had to refuse to buy beer for them.) But they were all tremendously delighted to have visitors to their bonfire and really made us feel at home. They were especially delighted to hear the stories of harmless Halloween antics of those who grew up in a different country. Anyway, we hung out for at least a half hour and really enjoyed it.
The newcomer, by the way, would be forgiven in mistaking Halloween for the Irish Fourth of July. There are fireworks, picnic outings, bonfires... lots of fun!
